NEWSLETTER

The Newsletter will keep you informed of what is happening at the preschool each month. Any special events, preschool holidays, field trips and important information will be provided in the newsletter.

PRACTICUM STUDENTS

Turning Point (Lighthouse Preschool) provides practicum placement for students in the Early Childhood Education program. Parents will be notified and given the opportunity to meet with the practicum student. All practicum students are supervised in the Preschool and are not left alone with the children at any time.

VOLUNTEERS

Lighthouse welcomes work placement workers and volunteers in the program. These students are carefully chosen with training in the field and are supervised in their work at the preschool. These students or volunteers may often be trained in Early Childhood Education and are working towards credit for their ECE license.

SUBSTITUTES

The preschool teaching staff is replaced by qualified substitutes if the need arises. If no substitute is found in time before class, the class will be cancelled, as the Preschool needs two teachers in order to open its doors.

OBSERVERS

Occasionally, a variety of professionals may visit the preschool to observe the program. Also at times, some special needs students may require workers other than the regular teaching staff. These workers are often requested by particular child's parents or health care professional.

OTHER VISITORS

Guests are invited to visit the program on a regular basis. The will share special talents, culture, or job related interests with the children. These visitors may include our church pastor, story tellers, dentists, doctors, health nurse or parents.

To make your child(ren)'s experiences at the Lighthouse Preschool as fulfilling as possible, we feel that is it imperative that you, the parent and we the teachers, work together as a team.
